Senior Experience Designer

Overview

We are seeking a Senior Experience Designer to join our growing design team, based in our San Francisco studio in SoMa. You’ll be working alongside a diverse team psychologists, anthropologists, ethnographers, filmmakers, engineers, product managers, strategists, and many more, to design best in class experiences for large well known brands across a range of industries.

Key Responsibilities

Ideation and concept development

  • Propose a range of creative conceptual ideas in response to a brief or challenge
  • Present design solutions and rationale
  • Prioritize and refine ideas with input from customers and clients, balancing business and technical requirements with user needs

UX, Wireframing, Prototyping

  • Create sketches and storyboards to visualise UX/UI solutions
  • Execute detailed wireframes and create prototypes
  • Work closely with the research and product teams, and integrate feedback as part of an iterative design process

UI, visual design

  • Create usable, engaging UI designs for apps, websites and other digital experiences
  • Deliver assets to clients and developers to a high standard
  • Translate research insights into visually compelling outputs, such as personas, user journeys and experience maps

Business development and Project Management

  • Collaborate on a cross-functional team of researchers, designers, strategists, and technologists
  • Assist in explorative and evaluative design research
  • Lead client meetings and workshops
  • Be an ambassador for design thinking, innovation and user experience design
  • Respond creatively to bid requests, scope projects and help win new work
  • Provide mentorship and demonstrate best practices to a junior designer

You bring…

Experience

  • Degree-level study in Design, User Experience, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field. In lieu of degree, relevant skills or equivalent experience
  • Proven track record of designing end to end experiences, ideally across both digital and non-digital touchpoints
  • Experience designing responsive digital applications – delivering screens, assets and prototypes to a high standard
  • Past work in an agency setting, or in-house but across a range of roles/teams, is preferred
  • Facility with industry standard design tools such as Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Sketch and InVision (or other prototyping tools)
  • A strong, well-rounded portfolio which demonstrates all of the above
  • Any additional specializations, such as graphic design (typography, print, branding), illustration, motion graphics, or front-end development is a bonus

User-centered design skills

  • Strong understanding and demonstration of user-centered design principles – you put the user at the heart of your design work
  • Familiar with user research methodologies – experience facilitating research sessions is a bonus

Design and digital trends

  • In-depth knowledge of current graphic design, digital and UX trends
  • Able to design around the capabilities and limitations of digital technologies
  • You must have an artistic flair and an eye for design

Personal skills

  • Excellent interpersonal and project management skills
  • Able to establish and maintain a strong professional rapport with clients
  • Enthusiasm for new challenges, a proactive, can-do attitude
  • Ability to embrace the unknown and inspire new ways of thinking

  • Bridging the gap between research insights and design, collaborate with UX researchers and translate their insights into workable wireframes and prototypes
  • Conceive and communicate ideas through prototypes, from sketches and wireframes to high fidelity designs

Experience

Education and Experience
