Freelance Design Researchers

We are currently looking for freelance researchers to work on upcoming projects of 2-3 months, that require some travel to different countries.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with our research teams to support user experience projects, conducting user research, field studies, usability testing and other activities
  • Support the creation of journey maps, personas and other means of visual communication to bring research insights to life

Education and Experience

  • At least undergraduate degree in Design, User Experience, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field. In lieu of degree, relevant skills or equivalent experience.
  • 1-3 years of research experience within the User Experience and/or Design in a commercial environment
  • An understanding and demonstration of user-centered design principles.
  • Strong written and communication skills

Job Requirements

  • Eligibility to work in the UK without sponsorship
  • Global and domestic travel is required
  • While scope of these projects is global, planning, analysis and other collaborative activities will take place in our London Labs. Freelance researchers must therefore be available and able to travel to and work in London.

Creative Producer

Overview 

Sutherland Labs is searching for a Creative Producer to join our Creative team at our design studio London, UK.

Ideal candidates will be versatile and have experience leading creative projects from concept to completion, focusing on video and animation production, but may also extend to design, digital and social content.

We are looking for someone who is passionate about the creative process but can also balance the commercial needs of clients and achieve project objectives.

In this role you’ll be hands on in all aspects of managing the production of multiple projects at a time, applying initiative and creative thinking to ensure high production value while actively managing timescales and budgets.

Also you will nurture client relationships and collaborate with our diverse team of designers, researchers, strategists, filmmakers, ethnographers, and marketing professionals.

Responsibilities

  • Take client briefs, prepare and present proposals
  • Conceptualise, develop, and manage creative projects

Marketing Copywriter (Sutherland Digital)

About this role

We are seeking an accomplished storyteller with marketing flair, able to bring creative thinking and new ideas when producing a range of sales and marketing assets, including case studies, presentations, blog posts, articles, white papers, sales collateral, and analyst reports.

This role will be based in our busy Design practice in Sutherland Labs, London, UK, but will support the wider Digital practices in the US and globally.

Responsibilities

  • Proactively coordinate, prioritize and communicate copy-related projects within the Digital organization, including with stakeholders in US, India, Europe and other geographies
  • Work with practice leads across the Digital organization to research, develop and write copy to promote the Digital Transformation portfolio
  • Work with subject matter experts and internal marketing peers to research, develop and write copy for thought leadership pieces
  • Provide interlock and alignment between the Digital organization and global marketing team
  • Work with our creative director and designers to match copy to visual design
  • Produce engaging, story-led copy that sparks the imagination, and adheres to brand guidelines and tone of voice

Senior UX Designer

We’re looking for a Senior UX Designer to join our busy design practice in London.

Key responsibilities

  • Collaborate with a diverse team of researchers, designers, developers, technologists and strategists
  • Lead client meetings and workshops to capture business requirements, explore customer experience challenges
  • Propose a range of creative conceptual ideas in response to a brief or challenge
  • Create personas, user journeys and experience maps
  • Create sketches and storyboards to visualize UX/UI solutions
  • Execute detailed wireframes and create prototypes
  • Work with research teams to validate ideas and designs
  • Collaborate with the client and present your ideas to top-level stakeholders
  • Develop a strategic understanding of the wider business to allow you to input into product roadmaps, proactively suggest new projects and prioritize features based on user, editorial & commercial needs

You bring…

  • Degree-level study in Graphic Design, or a related field. Study in User Experience or Human-Computer Interaction would also be advantageous. In lieu of degree, relevant skills or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years experience
  • A strong understanding and demonstration of user-centered design principles – you put the user at the heart of what you do
  • An enthusiasm for designing end to end customer experiences across a range of touchpoints – from digital to physical
  • Proficient in industry standard design tools such as InVision, InDesign, Sketch, Illustrator, Photoshop, etc
  • Excellent interpersonal and client management skills
  • Strong project and people management skills, the ability to both lead and contribute
  • Ability to work independently and communicate a point of view
  • Enthusiasm for new challenges, always looking to learn and pick up new skills
  • Ability to embrace the unknown and inspire new ways of thinking
  • A solid understanding of the capabilities & limitations of web technologies
  • Able to establish and maintain a strong professional rapport with clients to ensure a full understanding of the brief

Bonus skills

Designers will also support our Creative Services to produce creative content for external projects as well as internal marketing (web, newsletters, social media etc). So experience producing visual designs for screen and print across a variety of media is a nice to have, together with an understanding of motion graphics and the video production process. These are ‘bonus skills’ and are not a requirement.
