Refining and Testing a Campaign Website for Google Android

Google Android UK were looking to gain research insights into one of their campaign websites to inform the redesign. We conducted initial research on their existing designs which influenced an initial set of wireframes; through an iterative design process we tested the resulting prototype which led to a second round of redesign and refinement.

Background

The project focused on the web presence of the campaign, resulting in the need for a responsive solution. To meet the client’s objectives our researchers and designers worked together to provide concrete design recommendations to improve the customer experience of the web pages in terms of engagement, content and messaging, and expectations.

Research

Our team of ever curious researchers carried out two phases of iterative research, which involved face-to-face user sessions in our research studios in London with customers and prospective customers. The research sessions focused on exploring users reactions to web page designs for the campaign on both desktop and mobile, and included a range of activities to gauge the impact of the campaign such as what they remember after their first look at the page, and more targeted tasks such as selecting a new phone. The research resulted in actionable insights to drive the design of the web pages from the user’s perspective.

Design

Following our first round of user sessions, we used the insights gained to develop a revised wireframe. We worked alongside the client during the development workshop, utilising their valuable insights regarding previous campaigns and customer segments. We then conducted the second phase of user sessions and gathered vital user feedback on the revised wireframes.
