The Challenge

PRELOADED, a BAFTA-winning game developer, is dedicated to creating meaningful experiences for all audiences. The team at PRELOADED were keen to build empathy into their design process to better understand the real-world experiences of diverse users – especially those with impairments.

Our Approach

We ran our Labs for All Empathy Workshop for PRELOADED’s team – designed to immerse the team in empathy-led design through shared learning.

Our workshop blended theory with hands-on activities. We explored the principles of empathy-led design and facilitated experiential learning exercises that helped participants step into the shoes of people with various impairments. This wasn’t about simply learning about personas; it was about feeling the challenges firsthand and broadening perspectives.

The Outcomes

Bringing the team together in this way led to energised conversations and a renewed commitment to inclusivity. Building a shared language of empathy helped the team align on how to design for diverse needs.

PRELOADED’s team called it a “brilliant and eye-opening experience.” And for us, it was a reminder of the power of empathy in action and how we can all work together to create better products for everyone.
